Ashtead Technology to Launch New Electric Dredge Pump

Leading subsea equipment solutions specialist, Ashtead Technology, is to launch the subsea market’s smallest electric dredge pump this week at the Ocean Business 2013 exhibition in Southampton, UK.

The pump will be available to rent exclusively from Ashtead Technology through an agreement with the manufacturer, Vortex International.

The electric pump is targeted at the 2½” to 3” dredge market and specifically towards small electric ROVs. This is a rapidly developing market, with increasing demands for innovative tooling to enhance the capabilities of small and efficient electric ROVs.

The pump can be easily customised to meet complex customer needs and differing on board power supplies. The dredge motor has been fitted with an industry standard six pin Burton plug and can be connected to different types of ROV electrical boxes through a simple, custom made power cable.

Allan Pirie, CEO at Ashtead Technology, said: “Our customers are demanding more innovative tooling solutions, due to their use of smaller ROVs and vessels, as well as looking to efficiently optimise their operating costs. Vortex has pioneered this solution and we are delighted to be able to offer the new electric dredge through Ashtead Technology.

“We regularly review feedback to ensure that our subsea equipment solutions are the best fit for customers’ needs – both now and in the future. Investing in our kit to remain at the forefront of market technology is vital in ensuring we continue to offer our clients the leading subsea solutions.”

With up and coming offshore field trials the electric dredge pump will continue to be developed to ensure its long term sustainability and adaptability to evolving customer requirements. Options to be trialled include a skid mounted dredge and the incorporation of the dredge as a custom made system.

Under its exclusive rental agreement with Vortex, Ashtead Technology also supplies a wide range of powerful dredge pumps, cutters, hoes and sampling tools.

Ashtead Technology will debut the Vortex electric dredge pump at its stand, number F8, at the Ocean Business exhibition which takes place from 9-11 April at the National Oceanography Centre, Southampton, UK.
